What is Akashi School Uniform Company?

Headquartered in Okayama Prefecture, known as the “Town of School Uniforms,” Akashi School Uniform Company is a leading manufacturer of school uniforms in Japan.

What makes school uniforms especially unique is the exceptional level of durability required.
The latest uniforms can be machine-washed, and even when scrubbed hard with a metal scourer, they show no signs of pilling or damage.
They also feature innovative tailoring that allows sleeves to be extended by 2 cm without the need for alterations—supporting students as they grow.

For students who frequently lean forward, special stretchable fabric is used under the arms to ensure comfort. To maintain long-term cleanliness and hygiene, the uniforms are equipped with deodorizing, stain-resistant, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

In a market where most school uniforms are semi-custom-made, it is Akashi School Uniform Company—founded over 150 years ago—that continues to deliver such remarkable quality and innovation.

Our Initiatives

We collaborate to propose high-quality school uniforms that not only serve as daily wear for students, but also provide opportunities to learn about biodiversity and the SDGs. This includes incorporating designs inspired by endangered species, using recyclable buttons, and adopting fabrics that minimize microplastic pollution.

We also co-created the attendant uniforms for the Signature Pavilion “LIVE EARTH JOURNEY” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. These uniforms use the same microplastic-reducing fabric as the CLASS EARTH uniforms and were entirely produced at a factory in Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.
